Who is TRIGON #5990?

As part of learning that is also experiential, Amit Boys Junior and Senior High School established the robotics groups in the school which are a part of FIRST Israel and FIRST International. These projects exist now already now for several years and earned more and more popularity since first introduced.

The groups are the most heterogeneous and include students from various classes and provide a safe environment for students with disabilities. The goal is to expose everyone to the STEM subjects and to create leaders. Beyond studying robotics, programming, and implementing their technical skills, the group members learn how to operate as a team, use creative thinking and skills for problem solving, creating a product in very limited time with limited resources, finding marketing strategies for funding and many more important skills.

Lior Halevi, the principal of AMIT Mr. & Mrs. Lester Sutker Art and Sciences Jr. and Sr. High School for Boys, said everyone is proud of the team’s impressive achievements, but are even more impressed by the maturity they exhibited. “We are confident these strengths will serve them in the future, both individually and as a team,” he said. The team named Trigon #5990 will represent Israel in the upcoming FIRST® World Championships which take place in Houston/ TX, USA.

“Our first robot was built from parts we took from old washing machines on the street!”

Lights, camera, STEAM! Science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) inspire big ideas, bold action – and creativity. Our skills make it possible to create art and experiences that bring us together, entertain us, and move us. Whether designing a logo, costume, or movie set from a blank canvas, 3-D printing a sketch, lighting the stage for a photoshoot, or bringing an arena to life with a jaw-dropping live show – STEAM empowers us design and build a world of endless possibilities.
