A little bit about our team
Our robotics team operates within the framework of the international organization FIRSTĀ® whose goal is to expose children and youth to the world of science and technology. FIRSTĀ®’s robotics programs build tomorrow’s leaders and future engineers; they operate on a wide national scale and are the cornerstone of the State of Israel’s status as an international high-tech state. The FIRSTĀ®’s robotics competitions are attended by over half a million students with 60.000 teams from around the world.
Our Rookie year was in 2016 and since then many more students showed interest in this amazing team. The main characteristics which describe our team is determination and the huge desire to succeed. Since the team was established about eight years ago and even though we were a young team with little resources, we reached many finals, and beat older and much more experienced teams than us. In our group setting teamwork is an essential part, along with taking personal responsibility and striving for excellency. We maintain a supportive atmosphere for everyone in our “family” of about 40 students who joined the team from four different grades in our school.
The main part of our work focuses on developing technical and social skills:
Throughout the season ā tasks include the organization of the mechanics, electronics and programming teams in accordance to the timeline, troubleshooting, creative problem solving and coordination between all teams; Building leadership, administrative and financial skills and, teaching responsibility – in relation to the tasks of the individual and towards the team.
Community ā out team volunteers in the local community with various projects such as mentoring younger groups in schools, and exposing young people to STEM at open events and more.
